Screening of the documentary Nemtsov

Nemtsov chronicles a remarkable political life. It is a story told by those who knew Boris Nemtsov at different times: when he was a young scientist and took his first steps in politics; when he held high government offices and was considered Boris Yeltsin’s heir apparent; when he led Russia’s democratic opposition. The film contains rare archival footage, including from the Nemtsov family. “Nemtsov is a portrait. It is not about death. It is about the life of a man who could have been president of Russia,” said Emanuelis Zingeris, Member of the Seimas and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Chair of the Parliamentary Forum for Democracy.

Since its Russian premiere in Nizhny Novgorod in November 2016, Nemtsov has been shown already in twenty cities across Russia, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Yekaterinburg, and Novosibirsk. Screenings also took place in the biggest US and European cities of Berlin, Boston, Kiev, London, New York, Philadelphia, Prague, Warsaw, and Washington.

The Vilnius screening of Nemtsov was held at the cinema Pasaka (Šv. Ignoto g. 4) 17:00 May 19.

The film is in Russian, with English subtitles. The screening was followed by a discussion with Vladimir Kara-Murza and Emanuelis Zingeris, member of the Lithuanian Seimas and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Organizers of the event: Rusijos dialogas, International Elections Study Center IESC, and Parliamentary Forum for Democracy.
